Weddings and Ireland

This cake (sorry I can't flip it) Carly and I did right before I left town. It was for a school mate of mine, I also made 300 cupcakes for the reception which I think turned out quite good. If you tried one let me know what you think. I enjoy feed back on my baked goods because I usually don't eat things I make. Its weird but I don't like to eat what I made I sort of get sick of it right before its done so I don't know if things are good. I have to have my brother be my taste tester. He doesn't complain and lets me know if things taste alright. It works out well for both of us.

Ireland was so much fun. It was beautiful and everything was so green. My mom and I spent a week there and I would have loved to stay there for much longer but you know we had to get back to the real world and my mom had to go back to work. We went to a couple of castles and I kissed the Blarney Stone so now I'm quite the talker :) I don't know what to say about the trip it was brilliant. If you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer them for you just let me know.

Cakes, Graduation, Birthdays, Tests, and More Cakes

So November 8th started out by delivering a wedding cake that my sister and I put together. We really enjoyed making this one even though it was during a stressful time in my life seeing as how I was getting ready to take my radiology boards so I was stressed about fitting it in with the studying but it seemed to work out well.

I then went to my graduation. Hooray I am done with school however it does feel super odd. I feel like I should be studying or should be doing something with my time. I guess I'm not used to be an unemployed college grad. Hopefully I'll find a job and things will all work out for me.

The graduating class of 2008, there are thirteen of us.

The ladies of Radiology!

Nick my study partner we became good friends during the course of our two years together.

Its all very exciting!
After graduation which was lovely we went to celebrate my sister Carly's birthday! It was an enjoyable evening. We all got together as a family and just ate till we were about to explode. However Carly wasn't feeling well so that kind of put a damper on things but she was a trooper and fought through it, it was quite fun.

On the tenth I went to a bridal shower for my friend from school and I made her a cake. It was fun to see everyone outside of school and outside of the hospital. It doesn't seem like that ever happens but when it does we go all out. The food was delicious thanks to those who brought everything and Laura did an awesome job planning it. Everything was a hit, which was quite perfect for me because I had to take my boards the next day so it helped me relax. When I took my boards the minute I hit "end exam" my heart stopped till I got my results. I PASSED! So my little heart attack was worth it. But it sure did make my heart hurt for a bit after.

I just finished making a birthday cake for a little girl. It is Cinderella and if you know me at all you know how excited I was to make this cake. Over all this past week has been busy and enjoyable so all in all a great week!

Spending Time with my nephew

So the for the last little bit most of my free time has gone to spending time with my two year old nephew, Jackson. That kid is so much fun to play with that I forget that I have no life and a two year old is my best friend :) Lately we have made sugar cookies. It was fun because that kid loves to help. I would be rolling out the dough and he would yell "I do, I do" so we would have to get him his own dough and his own rolling pin. It was fun. We made pumpkin monsters and ghosts. He would always hand the cut out cookies to his mom and say "he you go mommy."

We also dressed up for Halloween as Crayons. He was red and I was white. My brother-in-law kept saying that I looked like a member of the KKK but I was not!!!! I was a crayon. It was fun trick-or-treating with him. He would walk up to the door and knock and when they would answer he would say "I want candy." They would give him candy and he would say "thank you." My favorite house was the one where the lady said he could take two. He took three boxes of dots and then saw some tootsie rolls so he took two of those. The lady just laughed and said he could have as much as he wanted. Its a good thing he is so cute, otherwise he would get into more trouble.

Grandma Cruickshank My Best Friend

Last night my Grandma Cruickshank passed away. It has been hard letting go but I know that she has gone to a far better place. My grandma has meant so much to me while I have been growing up. I remember when she lived in Canada and I was a little girl we would go up and visit her and just have a ball. She always had a smile on her face and always joked around. I was lucky that she was always in good health and would run and play with us. As I got older I learned more from her then I ever thought one person could teach you. She was the best cook and baker that I have ever known. I got my love of cooking from her, we would spend hours in the kitchen together making food laughing and joking around. When she would live with us for six months I would take her with me everywhere. I loved driving her around and having one-on-one time with her. My grams and I are a lot alike. She always wanted the best for me and I loved spending so much time with her. I have been so blessed to have her in my life. As hard as it is for me to let her go I want the best for her and know that this was her time. Its what she wanted, she has been a widow for almost 30 years so she is now happily reunited with my grandfather. I love her so much!

I am...

You Are...Elizabeth Bennet!
You are Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice! You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of ridiculousness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed.

My sad Life.....

So I've pretty much decided that I'm going to die an old spinster. This decision is not by choice but really by an outside force called boys. Currently I am not a huge fan of them. I always get the lets just be friends talk. You know the one. You're fun and cute and really nice but I think its best if we just stay friends. Okay first of all that kind of puts a wrench in the whole friends situation. It just a nice way of saying I don't like you so lets be awkward friends who when they see each other use a few awkward how are you? and what have you been up too? To me that is not friendship.... Friendship is when you can just call to talk to the person and there are no weird moments.. Also when you can have comfortable silences. You can act like a total nerd and they don't care because either A: they are doing it with you or B: they have seen you act like that before and are quite used to it. This is friendship to me. Guys who say lets be friends and we can still hang out, i mean its a noble idea but it sometimes would have been better to just be friends from the get go so you don't have to have this wonderful talk. Maybe I under-think stuff to much but I am the type of person who always puts friendship first and then if something happens you'll always be friends. Well anyways this is why I'm going to be like Captain Hook, not that I'm going to feed my right hand to a croc, but i'm going to be old and alone. Maybe I'll become a pirate and just pillage and not have a care in the world. That sounds good.

Disneyland!!

So I just recently went on a vacation to the happiest place on earth. I love Disneyland! I went with my family a week after my birthday so I counted it as my birthday party. We went down on memorial day and just hung out at Downtown Disney. Then tuesday the real fun started. I was at Disneyland for 12 hours on tuesday. I had a blast and was quite tired when I had to walk the 20 minute walk back to the hotel. I didn't think that I was going to be able to make it. But its a good thing that I did. Because on Wednesday I was at Disneyland for 13 hours I was going to try to stay for the fireworks but I was unable to stand much longer and I had to still walk back to the hotel so my brother and sister walked back with me. We were always the last ones to leave, usually everyone left about an hour before we did. The last day that we went was on thursday. We were only able to do a half day there because I had to get back home so that I could do my clinical hours on Friday. I was only able to miss 8 hours of clinic this semester and I took that time off in the second week. But it was worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Like I said I LOVE DISNEYLAND.

Baby Shower Bliss

This past week end I attended a Baby Shower for my sister-in-law, Johanna. She is expecting to have her first child, Clark Cruickshank Bringhurst, in July. At the shower we played three games and I won two of them. HECK YES! I'm amazing when it comes to games like guess the candy bar melted in the diaper. My sister, Carly, decorated a "cake" it was made of rice krispies, and I made and decorated cupcakes. They were a chocolate peanut butter cream cheese and a key lime cheesecake cupcake. They were quite tasty.

This was the coolest car ever, it was hard to drive because Lauren was sitting on the steering wheel.

Erica's Wedding

This past weekend my cousin Erica got married. It was quite the week. My family and I did all the food for the reception and my sister, Carly, and I did her wedding cake. It was a lot of work but everything turned out beautifully. For the food we did stuff that Erica asked for but we tried to vamp it up a bit. So we did popcorn chicken, pigs in a blanket, and our version of peanut butter and jam sandwiches. What we did was take sliced baguette's with almond butter and fresh strawberry slices. They were quite tasty. We also did a chicken salad roll up. As for the desserts we did lemon tarts, peanut butter brownie cheesecake bites, and rice crispies. It was a fun reception to cater. As for the cake I made a french vanilla cake, with actual vanilla beans in it, with a cream cheese berry center.  We printed off their bridal pictures on rice paper and attached them to cake with a bead frame around it. The cake was not originally going to look like this it took us a few different cake designs before we ended up with this one. We haven't really done one where there is a tier in the center of the cake but it worked with this cake I think. It was tasty and it looked really good when they cut into it. My sister says that its hard to watch people cut into a cake that you took so long to make and decorate. As for me I am just happy to be done with the cake so I don't really care what happens to it. Plus I work really hard to make sure that the cake tastes good so I like people to be able to enjoy that part. This wedding was a lot of work, but very worth it. I hope that Erica enjoyed everything.
